Onboarding 

  • Kick-off with all participants, project matching, contact with first project department (remote and on site)

Max. 3 projects of 4 months each

  • In departments of your choice in the relevant field

Airline basics

  • Airline process knowledge (2 days, remote)
  • General Airline Simulation Game (GAMS) at the training center in Seeheim (3 days)

Application process:


1. Online application


Along with your online application, please send us a cover letter (we would like to understand you better and get to know you: Why you? Why PartTime Pro?) and the following documents: CV, master’s transcript, employee references, and, if applicable, additional qualifications. If your profile is a match with PartTime Pro, you will be sent a link to the gamified online test.

2. Online test 

Our multistage process is to help us get to know each other better. The online test comprises multiple short sections and typically lasts around 60 minutes. Maybe you haven't done a test like this for a long time? Never mind! Go through the test step by step, many elements only take 5 minutes. Additionally, you can pause the test and resume it at a later time.

You have 10 days to complete the online test after receiving the link. This period is reduced to 3 days if you submit your application on the final day (May 1, 2024). In this instance, you have until May 3, 2024. The test takes approximately 30 minutes.

3. Face-to-face interview via Teams

To help us get to know each other better, we will invite the most suitable applicants to a 30-minute Teams interview with the program managers Susanne and Nora, as well as other colleagues.

Interview dates: between May 13 and May 17, 2024 (only)

4. Applicant day in Frankfurt

If the interest is mutual, you will be invited to take part in one of our three assessment days in person. These applicant days give you the opportunity to show yourself from different sides. There will be a cognitive test, a practical task, and an interview.

Dates for the applicant days: June 4, 5 or 6, 2024 (only)

We will give you your results by June 10, 2024 at the latest. The contract starts on November 1, 2024.

Who can apply for the PartTime Pro program?

PartTime Pro has been developed for the IT and Finance divisions. It is for employees with professional experience and a master’s degree who have expert knowledge in these areas and are looking for qualified part-time employment. You should have a good grasp of English and German.

Am I applying for a specific job with PartTime Pro? 

Definitely not. PartTime Pro is a program, not a specific job. It is like a year of onboarding with a personal support and orientation program. It guides you through various areas and shows you your possibilities. At the end, you decide in which area and in which team you would like to work. In other words, PartTime Pro is the perfect way to get your dream job.

How do I apply for the program?

Exclusively online (see above).

I haven’t applied for a job for a long time and the many steps involved are daunting. Do I need to complete them all?

We want to be as fair as possible to every applicant, which is why we have incorporated so many steps. The Teams interview is also exciting and thrilling for us because we are also applying to you – let’s shape it together! Despite all the excitement on the applicant day, we try to make this day as enjoyable as possible – because, as we said, we are also applying to you!

Are alternative dates available if I am unable to make the dates mentioned for Teams interviews and the applicant day?

Unfortunately, we are unable to offer any additional dates. 

I received a rejection. Why?

Since only a limited number of program places are available, we have to filter out the best matches for us from the multitude of applications. In addition to these individual prerequisites and qualifications, which we check very carefully, the following factors will result in a rejection:

No master's degree
No German language skills
Incomplete application

Failed test
No IT or finance profile
No compelling cover letter
No relevant professional experience

Which Lufthansa Group companies are involved in the PartTime Pro program?

PartTime Pro primarily involves the Group functions as well as Lufthansa Airline and Lufthansa Systems, but in principle we gather projects from all Group companies. Through our trainee programs we have plenty of experience with a project pool and support everyone – project sponsors and project participants.

Is PartTime Pro the same for everyone?

No, PartTime Pro adapts. The flexible concept ends when you want it to and allows you to transition from the program to a permanent position at any time. Did you find your dream job during your first project assignment? Fantastic, then this is where PartTime Pro ends for you. Do you want to find out more and make use of all three projects? That’s also fantastic, this is precisely the point of PartTime Pro. 

Is my employment contract temporary?

No, once you have qualified for the program you will receive a permanent part-time contract right from the start.

How many hours per week will I work?

Your working time will be between 70 and 80 percent of a full-time role (39.5 hours) and can be negotiated on an individual basis within this range.

How many days’ vacation will I have? 

30 days pro rata.

Will I be able to choose projects without restriction?

Yes. The only prerequisite is that they must be projects that match your profile. Initially we provide support with a collection of projects from the areas mentioned, all of which would welcome assistance. In our experience this project pool is no longer necessary when choosing the next project as you are welcome to look for the next project yourself.

Do I have to work on three projects?

No, you don’t. These three projects are simply an offer for you to help you better assess in which area you would like to work at the end of the program. If the first project turns out to be the perfect fit for you and you have found your professional home, you can exit the program and start your permanent role with us.

How will I know which project is the right fit for me?

Many companies, many areas of work, many project opportunities; it’s not easy to find the right project with such a wide selection. Which is why we guide and advise you. We make suggestions and show you potential fields of application. Would you like to try something totally different? No problem. If the area matches your profile and there are suitable projects, go for it!

How will I find my final position?

You don’t need to decide, depending on your preferences and job vacancies, in which role you would like to work on a permanent basis until the end of the orientation year. Part-time, of course. So, we have enough time, either during or towards the end of the orientation phase, to find the right match for you. Our program managers Nora and Susanne have a very good network and they have plenty of experience in matching job vacancies and potential prospects.
